Siemens inks deal with U. of Iowa

Siemens Medical Solutions has formed a 15-year strategic alliance with the University of Iowa in Iowa City. The university will purchase Siemens diagnostic imaging and oncology treatment technologies, and the university and Siemens will conduct cooperative research and development activities, according to Malvern, PA-based Siemens.

Siemens will be installing its Magnetom Avanto 1.5-tesla MR system, biograph 16 integrated PET/CT scanner, Oncor Avant-Garde linear accelerator, and Axiom Multix M flat-panel digital x-ray detector. Future opportunities may expand the agreement to include healthcare information technology, building technologies, and information network and communication services, Siemens said.
