AdvaMed submits comments to U.S. Department of Commerce regarding medtech

The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) has submitted comments responding to a U.S. Department of Commerce investigation into whether the country's current level of medtech imports has national security implications.

The company offered the comments on behalf of its more than 600 member firms. It noted that medtech manufacturing jobs have grown three times faster than overall U.S. manufacturing jobs and that 70% of the medtech sold in the U.S. is made here. AdvaMed is urging the Trump administration "to consider how lower tariffs combined with supportive policies will promote more medtech manufacturing and job growth in the United States American hospitals and patients and more investment in the United States," it wrote.
