AdvaMed, the medtech association, has published a technical performance and safety white paper on medical imaging cybersecurity.
The paper, titled Medical Imaging Device Cybersecurity: Critical Outage Situations and Response, outlines common imaging device outage scenarios and steps recommended by manufacturers for hospitals and radiology departments to consider. These actions aim to mitigate the impact of cyberattacks and keep medical imaging systems functioning for physicians and patients.
The paper highlights best-practice response plans to restore stability, verify integrity, and mitigate against device failures or compromised systems. It also outlines how deprecated imaging devices face a higher risk of unresolved infections and explains the need for a clear, well-defined response plan.
