Just when you think you've seen it all, along comes someone with a new twist on an old story. That's the case with Biospace Med, a French firm that debuted at last month's RSNA meeting in Chicago with a uniquely different approach to digital radiography.
Biospace Med's EOS system is a DR unit that scans patients in the standing or sitting positions. What's more, the system uses a pair of digital detectors, positioned at right angles, that scan up and down the patient in 10-20 seconds for a whole-body study. EOS also delivers a radiation dose to patients that's a fraction of existing CT or even DR systems.
The company believes EOS will be useful for orthopedic applications, as well as for pediatric patients who shouldn't be receiving too much radiation. The company is the subject of this months' Insider Exclusive, which you're receiving before the rest of the AuntMinnie.com membership.
