Analogic posts mixed Q2 results

Medical imaging firm Analogic of Peabody, MA, posted mixed results for its second quarter of 2009, the company reported.

Revenue for the second quarter (end-January 31) was $102.7 million, compared with the prior year's $99.4 million, an increase of 3%. Net income for the quarter dipped compared to 2008, with the company reporting $1.4 million versus $7.1 million, Analogic said. The company attributed the mixed results to a challenging global economy.

Analogic's medical business grew slightly during the quarter due to revenue from Copley MR power systems: Medical imaging product revenue for the second quarter was $61.8 million, up 4% over the prior year's second quarter results of $2.5 million. Digital radiography product revenue was $6.8 million, up 17% compared to 2008's $1 million due to increasing sales of tomosynthesis-ready amorphous Selenium direct digital mammography detectors, Analogic said.
