GE Healthcare grows in Q2

General Electric of Stamford, CT, said higher orders for its GE Healthcare business of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., helped grow the company's revenue and profit in the second quarter.

In the period (end-June 30), revenues for GE Healthcare increased 3% to $4.102 billion, compared with $3.964 billion in the second quarter of 2009. The segment's profit advanced 12% to $661 million, compared with $590 million in last year's second quarter.

For the six-month period, revenues rose 4% to $7.835 billion, compared with $7.509 billion in the same period of 2009. Profits climbed to $1.158 billion, a gain of 16% from $1.001 billion in the same period a year ago.
