Global demand for its products powered GE Healthcare of Chalfont St. Giles, U.K., to increased revenue and profit in the third quarter (end-September 30).
Third-quarter revenue increased 4% to $4 billion, compared with $3.8 billion in the third quarter of 2009. Profit increased by 14% to $581 million, compared with $508 million in the same quarter of 2009.
GE noted that healthcare orders in China and India improved by more than 20% during the third quarter.
For the nine-month period, revenue advanced 4% to $11.8 billion, compared with $11.3 billion in the same period of 2009. Profit increased 15% to $1.7 billion, compared with $1.5 billion in the same period a year ago.
