Strong growth in volume and progress in controlling costs helped GE Healthcare to a positive second quarter.
For the period (end-June 30), GE Healthcare posted revenues of $4.525 billion, up 4.2% compared with sales of $4.337 in the second quarter of fiscal 2015. The division had segment operating profit of $782 million, up 10.9% compared with segment profit of $705 million in the same quarter of 2015.
Segment profit was driven by "cost productivity," the company said, as well as growth in volume and expanding profit margins. The company recorded $4.9 billion in orders for the period, with U.S. orders up 2%, orders from Europe up 11%, and orders from China growing 9%.
