HealthCost offers consumers access to imaging costs

Healthcare online marketplace HealthCost.com has added imaging studies to its service for comparison shopping of healthcare procedures.

HealthCost.com now has 34 imaging categories that include more than 300 exams such as breast imaging, echocardiography, and MRI. Patients can access exact pricing, enabling them to compare the costs per doctor and per facility, according to the company.

Private imaging facilities are currently included in the service, but outpatient hospital imaging costs will also soon be added, the firm said. HealthCost.com said it gets its quality and pricing information by sourcing data from the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Any provider can also register for the HealthCost Network and control its own pricing, according to the company.
