Jefferson and Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) are combining their respective organizations into one health system, creating an integrated academic healthcare delivery network.
This combination will also create a national doctoral research university and an expanded not-for-profit health plan. With LVHN now part of Jefferson, the combined health system will include 32 hospitals and more than 700 sites of care and will address health inequities for urban and rural communities in Eastern Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey.
Joseph Cacchione, MD, Jefferson CEO, will continue to serve in his current leadership roles. He is joined by Baligh Yehia, MD, who will serve as president of the legacy Jefferson Health and executive vice president/chief transformation officer of Jefferson. The newly integrated board of trustees and leadership team is comprised of members from both systems.
The two organizations in December 2023 signed a letter of intent to combine and in early 2024, came to an agreement.
