Siemens Healthineers highlights plans through 2030 and beyond

Siemens Healthineers has released its 2024 Sustainability Report highlighting the company's plans through and beyond 2030.

The 137-page report delves into six focus areas, in particular three core pillars: healthcare access, resource preservation, and diverse and engaged healthcare as it pertains to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

In the area of healthcare access, Siemens has set a target to achieve 3.3 billion patient touchpoints worldwide by 2030, including 1.25 billion patient touchpoints in low- and middle-income countries. A patient touchpoint is a measure of the number of times patients interact with Siemens systems, tests, or software, the company said.

In resource preservation, the company aims to achieve zero net emissions by 2050. Having accomplished a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from its own operations and worked toward a decarbonized, more circular value chain as of 2024, Siemens plans to further reduce greenhouse gas scope 1 and 2 emissions in its operations by 90% in 2030.

Toward diversity efforts, Siemens is poised to have 30% women representation in senior management roles by 2025.

With the report, Siemens also said it is addressing pressing global crises using innovations in patient twinning; precision therapy; and digital, data, and AI.

Products referenced within the report include the Magnetom Free platform, which can now be installed in places where MRI was previously not an option, and the Magnetom Sola eco system, which is designed to reduce emissions.

Moreover, Siemens provided 4 million hours of training for healthcare professionals and is on a path to reach 6 million hours by 2030.
