Siemens Healthineers to open 2 new inventory supply depots

Siemens Healthineers is opening two “mega depots” to increase the availability of parts inventory and boost its logistics capabilities, one on each coast of the U.S.

This expansion will mitigate risks of supply-chain disruptions and surges in demand, the company said in a statement.

Siemens Healthineers is leasing new warehouse space in Dayton, NJ, and Manteca, CA, to serve the New York and Oakland, CA, metro areas. The firm’s existing depot is in Memphis.

The company said that it is working with contract logistics provider GXO in this process. GXO is currently providing warehousing and inventory management to Siemens at the New York metro site and expects to begin Oakland-area operations in early 2025.

Additionally, Siemens Healthineers has an existing network of U.S. forward-stocking locations close to its major customers.

The company noted that the benefits not only include strengthening supply-chain resilience and ability to respond to surges in demand but also delivery flexibility and more options for delivery for customers, as well as reduced environmental impact through more efficient delivery.
