Quantum installs x-ray unit in Africa

Radiology equipment vendor Quantum Medical Imaging has installed a conventional x-ray imaging system at Partners in Hope Hospital in Lilongwe, Malawi.

The system operates on the firm's "stored energy" concept, which allows hospitals to provide radiographic imaging via alternate incoming power, according to the Ronkonkoma, NY-based firm. The installation was performed in association with international relief organization Samaritan's Purse; funding was provided through Partners in Hope and Rotary International.
