Computerized Thermal Imaging (CTI) of Layton, UT, has selected Peak Industries of Frederick, CO, to build patient examination beds for its breast cancer detection systems. Peak Industries is a contract electronics manufacturer specializing in mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic assembly services.
CTI's system works by taking non-invasive thermal "pictures" of the breast, then processing the images via a computer algorithm to determine which abnormalities are malignant. The technique is being tested for use as an adjunct to mammography and clinical examination.
