HIMSS to offer Web audioconferences on new HIPAA regulations

With today's publication of the final HIPAA transaction rule in the Federal Register, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) has announced two upcoming Web audioconferences to provide healthcare professionals with detailed insight into the regulations.

More than just a review of the rules, the briefings will offer expert assessment on key areas of the law that healthcare providers must focus on to comply with the new U.S. regulations, HIMSS said. The rules, to be finalized by the end of 2000, are intended to facilitate the management of electronic transactions in healthcare.

The audioconferences will be held Tuesday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m. EST and Thursday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m. EST. Both will offer live presentations by nationally known HIPAA expert Chris Wierz. Following the presentations, participants can send e-mail or voicemail questions to Wierz for direct response, HIMSS said.
