The new Advanced Biomedical Imaging Institute at Ohio State University in Columbus will bring together experts for a variety of fields, including clinical research and computer science, to develop better cancer and cardiac imaging technology.
The project will be a multiyear collaboration between GE Medical Systems of Waukesha, WI, and the university. Dr. Daniel Sedmak, dean of the Ohio State College of Medicine and Public Health, said resources from the entire campus would become involved in the institute, such as biotechnology and engineering. Ohio State’s medical institution currently uses an array of imaging modalities from x-ray to MRI and specializes in cardiology, cancer, and women’s health.
The Advanced Biomedical Imaging Institute will research imaging technology in radiology, cardiology, oncology, surgery and engineering.
