Medisys acquires Canadian imaging services

Private healthcare services provider Medisys of Montreal said it has signed letters of intent to acquire two medical imaging clinics in eastern Canada.

The firm is seeking to buy Niagara Diagnostic Imaging Centre, a provider of general radiology and nuclear medicine services in St. Catharines, Ontario, for the past 19 years. The second acquisition, Clinique Imatech, has been providing nuclear medicine services in Montreal for the past six years.

The two organizations generated approximately $3.2 million Canadian ($2.8 million U.S.) in revenues and $700,000 ($612,000 U.S.) in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) in their most recent fiscal years, according to Medisys.

Both acquisitions are expected to close during the first quarter of 2006, pending receipt of regulatory and other approvals, Medisys said.
