The American College of Radiology (ACR) of Reston, VA, and the Radiology Business Management Association (RBMA) of Fairfax, VA, have developed a set of best practice guidelines.
The guidelines are designed for third-party payors, managed care organizations, radiology benefits managers, and imaging providers to use when implementing a radiology benefits management program, according to the ACR.
The ACR does not endorse the programs, but recognizes that the guidelines are necessary for a uniform process that will ease administrative burden on payors, ordering physicians, and imaging providers, the college said.
