The parents of a 33-year-old brain damaged patient at Royal Perth Hospital in Perth, Australia, claim that their son is not receiving adequate food due to shortages in radiological staff, according to a story on PerthNow.
Nils Grimley was admitted to the hospital in July after a car accident. He is partially conscious and in intensive care, being fed through a tube via a procedure conducted by radiology staff, the story reported.
His parents say that if he removes his feeding tube, it can take days for it to be replaced because staff members who can do the procedure are busy or because it is the weekend. Grimley's parents have sent a letter of complaint to Western Australian Health Minister Kim Hames, who has instructed the hospital's executive director, Dr. Paul Mark, to address the problem, according to the article.
