Dear AuntMinnie Member,
The next installment in our Leaders in Imaging series tackles the thorny issue of relationships between radiology groups and hospitals.
Such relationships appear to be deteriorating as reimbursement pressures and other factors push groups and hospitals from cooperative relationships into open competition. Many groups are finding their hospital partners driving harder bargains at contract renewal time, and acrimonious splits have developed in several cases.
Discussing this changing trend is Cynthia Sherry, MD, chair of radiology at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Dr. Sherry recently authored a widely read paper on the topic in the Journal of the American College of Radiology, and she was interviewed for our Leaders in Imaging series by associate editor Kate Madden Yee.

In other news in the community, word on Capitol Hill is that President Barack Obama plans to do an end run around the U.S. Senate and use a recess appointment to fill the top position at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Learn more by clicking here.
