Dear Imaging Leaders Insider,

The use -- or overuse -- of advanced imaging modalities such as CT or MRI has been under much scrutiny these days, sparking debate on exactly how to monitor these modalities and use them most effectively.

Researchers from Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston are contributing to the literature on the topic with a study on imaging use trends for acute pancreatitis. Because acute pancreatitis accounts for more than 220,000 annual hospital admissions in the U.S., it provides a good case study on imaging use, according to lead author Koenraad Mortele, MD, and colleagues.

Their study results have been published online in Radiology: Click here for the findings. As an Insider subscriber, you have access to the story before the rest of our members.
