The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has made another adjustment to the 2011 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS), the agency said.
In an emergency update posted December 29, 2010, that reflects statutory changes and technical corrections, CMS announced that the final conversion factor for 2011 is $33.9764, compared to the conversion factor of $36.8729 announced on December 20, 2010. The change went into effect January 1.
In addition to the conversion factor change, CMS has also revised practice expense and malpractice relative value units (RVUs) and payment indicators for certain procedures, the agency said.
