Revenue growth could not offset a series of charges that produced a net loss for Alliance HealthCare Services in 2011.
Revenue last year advanced 4% to $493.7 million, compared with $478.9 million in 2010. The company's net loss increased to $160.1 million last year, compared with a net loss of $32.7 million in 2010.
Fourth-quarter revenue increased 2% to $120.7 million, compared with $117.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2010. Alliance's net loss totaled $16.4 million in the fourth quarter of 2011, compared with a net loss of $29.6 million in the same quarter of 2010.
The company blamed the net loss in part on fourth-quarter, noncash impairment charges of $12.1 million related to Alliance's imaging division, of which $10.7 million was due to impairment of imaging-related equipment.
