On December 26, President Barack Obama signed into law House Joint Resolution 59, also known as the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013 and the Pathway for SGR Reform Act of 2013.
The bill includes a sustainable growth rate (SGR) patch that will protect doctors from cuts of 24% from January 1 through March 31, 2014, giving them a 5% pay boost during those months and lawmakers more time to work out permanent SGR repeal legislation.
