A bill introduced in February in the California Senate was amended on March 26 to eliminate the in-office exception for advanced imaging and radiation oncology from the state's self-referral regulations.
SB 1215, authored by Sen. Ed Hernandez (D-West Covina), would also remove the exception for anatomic pathology and physical therapy. Hernandez is the chair of the California Senate Health Committee, to which the bill has been referred.
