Dear Imaging Leaders Insider,
It's easy to think that the delivery of healthcare is simple enough: Patients are offered services and they receive them. But unfortunately, that's not always the case. Racial, social, and economic factors can negatively affect patient access to radiology, which can in turn affect their health.
That's why radiology practices need to assess their patient base and actively work to bridge the gap between recommended care and what patients actually receive, according to research presented at the recent RSNA 2015 meeting in Chicago. Read our Insider Exclusive to learn what Dr. Efren Flores and colleagues at Massachusetts General Hospital discovered when they did this for their department -- and what interventions they suggest radiologists can perform to get patients the care they need.
