CDI affiliate earns provider designation from CMS

CDI Quality Institute, a nonprofit affiliate of the Center for Diagnostic Imaging (CDI), has been designated a provider-led entity by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

As such, the institute will collaborate with AIM Specialty Health to create and use appropriate use criteria for diagnostic imaging services for Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries.

The designation is granted to a select group of organizations nationwide to provide real-time clinical guidance to treating clinicians ordering diagnostic imaging procedures such as MRI, CT, and PET exams for their patients, CDI Quality Institute said.

The relationship between the institute and AIM provides evidence-based care guidance through the delivery of appropriate use criteria to direct clinicians to the right test at the right time. These clinicians will access the guidance through clinical decision-support software platforms, a provider-led entity website, and other electronic health record integrations.
