New Jersey radiologist Dr. Nicole Saphier has thrown her hat into the political ring, announcing a run for a seat on the council of Morris Township.
Saphier has been a frequent guest on the morning TV news show "Fox & Friends," commenting on healthcare public policy. She has also been active on social media such as Twitter, advancing the idea that radiologists must be more visible to patients in order to thrive in the changing healthcare environment.
Dr. Nicole SaphierSaphier is running as a Republican in the race, in which two committee seats are being contested for governance of the township, a municipal body that surrounds Morristown and includes a number of unincorporated communities. Morris Township had a population of 22,306 in the 2010 U.S. Census.
Saphier has been involved in a number of local issues since moving to the area in 2014, such as chairing the township's board of health and serving as co-chair of its Economic Development Advisory Committee.
"Local politics are very different than national issues, so my primary focus is to preserve the future economic stability of Morris Township, ensure our infrastructure is well-maintained, and make sure our families have a safe and healthy environment to flourish in," Saphier wrote in an email to AuntMinnie.com.
