U.S. Senate Republicans have tabled their latest effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), drafted earlier this month by Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Bill Cassidy (R-LA), according to a Politico report.
Republicans hold a 52-seat majority in the Senate; they could only lose two votes and still pass the proposal. Senators who had stated their opposition to the measure included Susan Collins (R-ME), John McCain (R-AZ), and Rand Paul (R-KY).
As it became clear the measure would fail, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) made the decision not to hold a vote, Politico reported.
