Interventional radiologist Dr. Steve Ferrara won the Republican primary in Arizona for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. He will face off in the general election in November against a Democratic opponent.
Ferrara won the primary for Arizona's 9th Congressional District against two GOP opponents, according to an article on azcentral.com. His opponent in the general election will be Greg Stanton, the former mayor of Phoenix.
In addition to his training as an interventional radiologist, Ferrara is a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the first Persian Gulf War, where he treated combat casualties. He is one of two radiologists who have drawn support from the Radiology Advocacy Alliance political action committee (RADPAC).
