What updates that affect radiology practices have been made to the International Classification of Diseases Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) coding system? We talked to Erin Stephens, client manager of education at Healthcare Administrative Partners, about the recent changes.
Radiology practices will see the addition of several new codes that address the public health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Stephens said. A new section has also been added that covers Social Determinants of Health (SDOH), which enables coders to document patient demographic information that could indicate disparities in healthcare.
