The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) said it welcomed the release of key AI policies by the White House July 23 in “Winning the AI Race: America’s AI Action Plan.”
The plan identifies over 90 federal policy actions that the Trump administration will take in the coming weeks and months. The policies are meant to accelerate innovation, build American AI infrastructure, and lead in international diplomacy and security, AdvaMed said.
“We share the White House’s goal to lead the world in AI development in order to improve Americans’ quality of life and drive domestic economic growth, and we thank President Trump for his leadership on this,” said Scott Whitaker, president and CEO of AdvaMed, in a statement.
AI in healthcare already is transforming lives, with earlier, faster, and more accurate diagnoses, sparing patients unnecessary procedures and saving them and the healthcare system time and money, Whitaker added.
Key policies in the AI Action Plan include directing the U.S. Commerce and State Departments to partner with industry to deliver secure, full-stack AI export packages, promoting rapid buildout of data centers, and removing onerous federal regulations that hinder AI development and deployment, AdvaMed noted.
“We look forward to working with the White House on policies that would unleash even more innovation, tapping into the full potential of AI to help make America healthy again,” Whitaker said.
