The International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) has added five sets of MRI safety guidelines to its resource listings this year.
The guides are designed to provide relevant safety information for users of MRI equipment. They cover the management of patients with the following:
- Coronary artery stents
- Heart valve prostheses and annuloplasty rings
- Vascular access ports
- Embolization coils used for cerebral aneurysms or arteriovenous malformations
- Passive, internal orthopedic implants.
Supervising radiologists or other physicians responsible for the MRI facility who wish to review these documents can access all information by scrolling ISMRM's full MRI safety reference catalog here.
