The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) has unveiled the recipients of its Distinguished Author Awards, given to the best peer-reviewed articles published in the society's scientific journals in 2015.
The Radiologic Technology Distinguished Author Award was given to Haney Alsleem, PhD, and Robert Davidson, PhD, for their article titled "Radiographers' Ability to Detect Low-Contrast Detail in Digital Radiography Systems" in the September/October 2015 issue.
Alsleem is an assistant professor of medical imaging at the University of Dammam in Saudi Arabia. Davidson is the inaugural professor of medical imaging at the University of Canberra in Australia.
The Radiation Therapist Distinguished Author Award was given to Timmerie Cohen, PhD; Jeffrey Legg, PhD; and Melanie Dempsey, PhD, for their paper titled "The Effect of Vertical Off-Centering on Breast Dose During CT Simulation in Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation Planning" in the fall 2015 issue.
All three authors are from the School of Allied Health Professions at Virginia Commonwealth University. Cohen is an assistant professor and clinical coordinator of radiation therapy, Legg is an associate professor and chair of the department of radiation therapy, and Dempsey is the radiation therapy program director.
