With respect to hospital bed size, 300- to 399-bed hospitals have the highest rating with an average of 5.5/7, while less than 100-bed hospitals have the lowest rating with a rating of 4.4/7. In relation to location type, urban sites have the highest rating at 5.3/7, while rural sites have the lowest at 4.3/7, indicating that larger hospitals and facilities in more urban locations are most likely to prioritize the use of predictive maintenance service features on their diagnostic imaging equipment.
The top three imaging modalities where predictive maintenance features are most important for CT, indicated by 83% of respondents, MRI by 72%, and ultrasound by 44%, respectively.
According to respondents, the top benefit of utilizing predictive maintenance in servicing imaging equipment is to improve the reliability of the equipment, indicated by 64% of respondents. While the top worry regarding the use of predictive maintenance is concern that it will lead to unnecessary maintenance procedures and expenses, indicated by 42% of respondents and uncertainty about how it will impact key performance metrics, indicated by 38% of respondents.
Looking at the various ways that diagnostic imaging services are delivered for diagnostic imaging equipment, the primary method of service delivery used is preventative maintenance, with 92% of sites using, followed by reactive (break fix) at 60%, predictive maintenance at 26%, and outcome-based at 20%.
Regarding, predictive maintenance services, 38% of survey respondents indicated that implementing or expanding a predictive maintenance service program is a high priority (rated 6 or 7 out of 7) for their organization, compared with 10% of respondents who indicated it was a low priority (rated 1 or 2 out of 7), resulting in a net positive rating of 28%.
