MIRODA opens for research requests

The MIRODA database is now accepting applications for access to its demographic information on 240,151 radiologic technologists. The Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology Data Alliance is designed to give allied health professionals access to information for scientific, academic, public policy, and healthcare research only.

Representatives from the various organizations that have contributed to MIRODA will review applications on a monthly basis. The database, which will be updated each year in March and September, includes the name, mailing address, year of birth, and gender of each technologist.

According to the organization's Web site, "to protect the confidentiality of the individuals whose records were used to create the database, researchers will not be given direct access to MIRODA data. A third-party mail house will conduct all surveys and mailings requested by researchers using the database."

If an individual does not wish to be included in MIRODA, he or she can request that the information be removed by the following participating organizations:

American Association of Medical Dosimetrists

American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

American Society of Radiology Technologists

Association of Educators in Radiological Sciences

Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology

Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology

Medical Dosimetrist Certification Board

Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board

Society of Nuclear Medicine-Technologist Section
