The RSNA plans to establish its next Global Learning Center in Peru at the Instituto Nacional de Salud del Niño de San Borja in Lima.
The center will be supported by a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and will be part of the RSNA's "Global Health Initiative: Access to Radiology," program, which is intended to improve patient care in low- to middle-resourced countries and to promote peaceful uses of nuclear energy, the society said.
Now that the host site has been determined, the RSNA will work with Global Learning Center staff to develop an educational plan that will consist of a curriculum with hands-on training, didactic lectures, conferences, and online courses.
The RSNA is taking applications for volunteer faculty positions on the Lima center faculty; radiologists with subspecialties in pediatric radiology and pediatric oncology are needed. Selections will be made in December 2024, the society said.
The first RSNA Global Learning Center launched in 2020 at Stellenbosch University near Cape Town, South Africa. Since then, other centers have been established at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in Tanzania; Hospital Metropolitano in Quito, Ecuador; Cipto Mangunkusumo National Referral Hospital at the University of Indonesia in Jakarta; and Shengavit Medical Center in Yerevan, Armenia.
