Surgical devices firm C.R. Bard has named former Food and Drug Administration director Dr. Susan Alpert as vice president, regulatory sciences, effective October 1. Alpert, who served as director of the Office of Device Evaluation in the agency’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health for six years, most recently was director for food safety at the FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition.
In her new role, Alpert will manage the Murray Hill, NJ-based vendor’s quality, regulatory, medical, clinical, and environmental affairs. She replaces Richard Manthei, who will retire from the position in December.
