In a story posted on its website and in television airings this weekend, CNN is reporting on the widespread use of "recalls," or the sharing of American Board of Radiology (ABR) exam items.
In its article, CNN shares details from its investigation and includes interviews with radiology residents, radiology program directors, and representatives from the American Board of Radiology. The story, "Prescription for Cheating," is also scheduled to air on CNN on Friday, January 13, at 8 p.m. EST, as well as on January 14 and 15 at 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. EST.
The CNN coverage comes as the ABR has moved in the past year to clamp down on the practice of exam item sharing, releasing its new security policy in an April 27, 2011, letter sent to radiology program directors and chairs. Dr. Jannette Collins, from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, discussed the ABR policy in an editorial published January 13 on AuntMinnie.com.
