ECR 2015 attendance edges down

In-person attendance at this month's ECR 2015 slipped slightly, although the congress was helped by strong growth in the number of viewers who followed the proceedings online via streaming video.

There were a total of 19,569 people walking the halls of Austria Center Vienna this year, down 2.2% compared with 20,010 in 2014, according to the European Society of Radiology (ESR). ECR 2015 saw 11,368 professional delegates and 8,201 industry representatives, compared with 11,532 professional delegates and 8,478 industry attendees at ECR 2014.

But the 2015 congress saw strong growth in online attendance, with the live program growing by 72%, attracting 5,971 viewers compared to 2014's 3,474 virtual attendees. When parsed by country of origin, Italy sent the most professional delegates, following by Germany and Austria.
