If possible, travel with a spare passport-sized photograph, or at least keep a photocopy of your documents.
Once you’ve determined that the passport is missing, file a police report at the Chicago Police Department. Be sure to request a copy of the report.
Then contact your country’s embassy or consulate. If you choose to go in person, be sure to carry the police report and another form of photo identification if possible (the photocopy of the passport is fine).
