Syncor Radiation Management of Cleveland recently released two radiation-monitoring products and two x-ray quality control meters. The devices were first introduced at this month’s RSNA show.
The monitoring products are the mAs-5 Meter, which measures mAs, exposure time, and MA simultaneously, according to the company. The AEC 6 Mammo & Rad Systems contain electronic film-screen cassettes that mimic the systems used in a radiology department and provide direct readout of optical density, while estimating the relative speed of the film-screen processing system on a PDA or computer.
The MamChex/AEC and RadChex/AEC are electronic cassette meters that make sure the x-ray machine is ready for optimal use by measuring components of the x-ray beam, analyzing the light from the screen rather than using and wasting film for the QC procedure.
