Bologna, Italy-based IMS will present Giotto Image MD, a work-in-progress FFDM and stereotactic biopsy unit.

Giotto Image MD utilizes an 18 x 24-cm amorphous-selenium digital detector and produces images eight seconds after exposure. IMS has completed clinical trails with the device and has begun the pre-market approval (PMA) process with the FDA; a version of Giotto Image MD for use as a digital mammography unit has been available outside the U.S. since April.
