Dear Cardiac Imaging Insider,

With cardiac CT angiography (CTA) growing by leaps and bounds, it's important to exclude the patients who should be examined by other means.

In this issue's Insider Exclusive, Dr. Guy Weigold from Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC, talks about the patients who should not undergo CT angiography, or perhaps be considered more carefully or prepped differently.

Some well-known contraindications, such as severe renal insufficiency, bear repeating. Other categories are less obvious, such as patients being treated for erectile dysfunction who should avoid nitroglycerine.

Even when patients are an excellent match for CTA, education is crucial when conducting an "unforgiving" test with a relatively small margin of error, Weigold notes in our Insider Exclusive article.
