Revival Healthcare Capital and medical technology firm Olympus have cofounded a new firm called Swan EndoSurgical.
The two companies will jointly invest up to $458 million to develop a "purpose-built endoluminal robotics platform which will seek to provide earlier, safer, and more effective treatment of lesions or tumors in the GI tract relative to current therapeutic options," they said.
Revival will hold a majority equity stake and controlling position, it noted, although Olympus will eventually have an option to acquire Swan EndoSurgical at a preset value.
