Clarius, Longeviti to collaborate on ultrasound neuroimaging

Clarius Mobile Health and Longeviti Neuro Solutions are collaborating to provide neurosurgeons with sonolucent cranial implants and wireless ultrasound scanners.

Clarius has adapted its ultrasound app to make its scanners usable for neurological applications. Longeviti, an authorized Clarius distributor, will be showcasing this at the North American Skull Base Society Meeting in New Orleans, LA, from February 13 to 16.

Longeviti’s ClearFit is a sonolucent cranial platform that allows for ultrasound imaging, cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This makes way for postsurgery monitoring with ultrasound, reducing the potential need for repeated CT scans. The companies highlighted that ultrasound imaging through sonolucent implants is a safe alternative and estimated a cost saving of up to $4,000 per patient depending on the procedure.

Clarius’ scanners are purpose-built for various specialties and operate through an app on iOS and Android devices. The AI-powered app automatically optimizes an image for brain scans, which Clarius said can assist novice ultrasound users.
