Referring docs prefer online scheduling

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

Looking for an easy way to keep your referring physicians happy? Let them schedule their referrals to your facility online, according to the results of a study weโ€™re featuring in our RIS Digital Community.

National Institutes of Health researchers compared online scheduling to the old telephone-based method, and presented their results at last monthโ€™s Symposium for Computer Applications in Radiology (SCAR) meeting in Boston. Staff editor Erik L. Ridley was on hand to report the results for AuntMinnie.com.

Some 75% of survey respondents who tried online scheduling called it an easier method of scheduling patients, with just 19% saying that online scheduling didn't simplify the process.

The survey also found that ease of scheduling can have a major impact on a referring physicianโ€™s attitudes toward their radiology service provider -- 33% said they would consider changing providers based on scheduling ease.
