Dear AuntMinnie.com Member,
If you’ve been following the wild and wacky California recall election, chances are you’ve heard about Arnold Schwarzenegger, Gary Coleman, and the scores of other candidates vying to replace Gray Davis as the state’s next governor. But did you know there are two radiologists among the 134 hopefuls jockeying for position in the October 7 race?
The radiologists are Dr. Frank Macaluso and Dr. Ronald J. Friedman, and each brings his own vision for addressing the Golden State’s woes, according to an article we’re featuring this week by contributing editor Tracie L. Thompson. Both see reforming the state’s healthcare delivery programs as crucial to fixing the budgetary messes that have come to visit the state as regularly as the swallows of San Juan Capistrano.
Even more interesting is that the two radiologists are the only physicians on the gubernatorial ballot. Could it be the regular turf battles that have made radiologists more politically aware than their physician brethren? No one knows for sure, but you'll get additional insight into their candidacies by reading the story here.
In other news, we’d like to thank the hundreds of AuntMinnie members who logged on for the live presentation on RIS/PACS integration on Wednesday.
