One month after posting year-end sales growth in its 2003 financial report, shareholders of contrast developer Amersham voted to approve the company’s pending acquisition by GE Healthcare of Waukesha, WI.
The Buckinghamshire, U.K.-based firm said it expects the deal to be completed on April 8. On the basis of that closing date, a 10-day trading period on which the exchange ratio in the all-stock deal is calculated will begin on March 23 and end on April 5, Amersham said.
GE will form a new GE Healthcare Technologies Life Science business unit to include the Amersham operations. The division will be led by William Castell, currently Amersham’s chief executive, and will be based in the U.K. Castell will lead the integration effort of the two businesses.
