Lifesyne CT screening center opens in London

London-based Medicsight PLC, a subsidiary of Delaware-based screening provider Medicsight, has opened a CT screening center in the U.K. that employs computer-aided detection (CAD) software.

The first Lifesyne center is in operation at Ravenscourt Park Hospital in Hammersmith, West London, according to the firm. The screening center performs coronary calcium scans, CT lung screening, and virtual colonoscopy using a LightSpeed 16 scanner (GE Medical Systems, Waukesha, WI). Images are reviewed by Medicsight's own CAD software.

Dental CT scans are also performed with the aid of image processing software from London-based Image Diagnostic Technology (IDT) for planning of dental implant placement.

Three additional Lifesyne centers will open later this year, two in Central London and one in Manchester, Medicsight said.
